Welcome to the 2007-08 academic year of the University of Colorado. In our second century of service to the University of Colorado students, alumni, and friends, the CU Band program promises a year to be remembered as one of the highlights of every member's musical career. With rehearsals in our state of the art, 4300 square foot rehearsal hall, and performances in venues throughout campus, this year will be a highlight in your music-making career.

CU Bands holds a unique position in the University and in the College of Music. Music majors comprise only a small percentage of the hundreds of students who assemble each year to form the nine bands that define the Band Department. There is truly a band that will meet every student s needs, schedule, and ability.

As a member of the University Bands, you will have the opportunity to broaden the scope of your University experience through close interaction with students and faculty who care about you as an individual. Through your participation, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing traditions of musical excellence in the CU Bands. Additionally, you will share in the experiences and spirit that are unparalleled in any other student organization on campus.

Included in this year's performances of the "Golden Buffalo" Marching Band are home games with CSU, Florida State, Miami of Ohio, Oklahoma (Homecoming), Kansas (Family Weekend), Missouri, and Nebraska.

In addition to our home football games: pep bands will travel to the CU-OSU game, and the CU-Nebraska game with a possible trip to the Kansas game. We will also perform at the State Fair Parade in Pueblo and at the Buffalo Stampede on Pearl Street Mall on the Friday nights before home games. Many of these games will be televised nationally or regionally and with the success of the CU Football team, a bowl game performance will likely be one of the potential highlights of the season.

The Symphonic Band and the Wind Symphony will be rehearsing and performing the most challenging and exciting new and traditional compositions in beautiful Macky Concert Hall. Both groups will have the opportunity to work with guest soloists, conductors, and composers.

On this web site you will find schedules and audition information for all the ensembles within the Band Department. If we can answer any questions you might have, please contact us and we will be glad to help you in any way!

Have a terrific summer!

We look forward to seeing you in the fall.
